Hello everyone and welcome to my holiday home tour! I am so excited to share how I decorated our home for the holidays!
As you may already know, I love neutrals- literally my entire home is creams/beiges/tans, etc. Everyone keeps telling me that I will regret it once we have children, but I just keep saying that I am going to be a “strict mom” haha! When planning out my décor for the holidays, I tend to continue with the neutral theme of my home. By sticking to this color palette, I can ensure that everything blends well together.
My Christmas tree, which I did a full post about here, is a new addition this year. In the past, we have always purchased a real tree, but this year we bought an artificial flocked tree. I have been talking about getting a flocked tree for years, and finally we pulled the trigger! I absolutely adore it and love the way it looks in our home.
For our mantle, I started with an artificial pre-made garland from Hobby Lobby. Normally I just arrange it on the mantle, but this year I also added REAL greenery and silver-dollar eucalyptus from our local florist. The real greenery adds such a nice touch to the entire look! Lastly, I strung some lights throughout for a magical little touch!
I also continued to use real greenery along the bannister of our stairs. I have been thinking about this for some time, but was unsure how long the greenery would last- would it dry up and look horrible after a few days? Weeks? Would it be a complete waste of time/money? Well, the answer to that my friends is NO- it is completely worth it! I’ll be honest about one thing though- we have some large spruce trees right down the road from us at a local school and we went one night and cut down some branches. Totally like a black ops mission haha! I don’t even know if I should be telling you guys this- like is this something people get arrested for? Anyways, I just refused to pay money for something that I knew I could get for free. I laid the branches out in my garage, cleaned them off, and secured them to one another with floral wire. I then brought it inside and secured it to our bannister with zip ties- nothing fancy people! Also, I did this all by myself which was kinda a mess, so if you have someone able to help hold the garland while you’re securing it, that would be much easier. Afterwards, I placed silver-dollar eucalyptus throughout to add a little extra! And no, I did not take this from somewhere- this came from our local florist! Super inexpensive and smells wonderful! Lastly, I took some cream-colored ribbon and created a large bow at the bottom of the bannister.
As I am typing this post two weeks later, the live greenery garland is still alive and kicking! I have been spraying it with water every few days just to give it a little love. The greenery is definitely drying out, but it still looks beautiful!
In our kitchen, I added some sparkly ornaments to a 3-tiered server on the table. Sometimes, I will also create fresh flower arrangements for this table! A pre-made garland sits on our vent hood for a little added sparkle in the kitchen! My goal next year is to find wreaths to hang from the cabinets as I think it would add such a nice touch to this space.
Lastly, I wanted to show you a few other areas in our home including our entry table and bookcase. Again, I tend to only purchase holiday products within the same color family. Here, I chose mainly white/cream products and those with a little sparkle.
The vast majority of these products were found at Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby and Target. These are my go-to stores for holiday everything, as they have great selections and are budget-friendly. Additionally, most of their décor is arranged by color/style, so it is easy for me to locate the white/cream/sparkly/wood accent décor ha! I hope you guys enjoyed my holiday tour today- if you have any questions, feel free to add a comment below or reach out to me via e-mail! I also linked a few items below that I love! As always, thank you for reading and sharing! -A
