Hey guys! I get messages all the time about what I use to curl my hair and what products I use and today I am spilling my secrets.
I used to have very long hair (can you believe it?!), but about 2 years ago I decided I wanted a change and cut my hair to my shoulders. Ever since then, I have kept my hair the same length as it is so easy to style!
During the week, my hair is usually up in a bun at work. I am around children all day doing exams, and the last thing I want is my hair in the way. Therefore, I just pull it back out of my face. The rest of the time, my hair is usually down and I use a curling iron to add a little wave to it. I NEVER wear my hair straight- I don’t know what it is about straight hair on me, but I just am not a fan.
I get my hair highlighted at Parlour 3 in Brentwood, TN. Marissa does my hair and she is hands-down THE BEST! Whenever I sit in her chair, I know I am in the best hands… now if only she could make me look like her- she’s stunning! I usually get my hair done every 6-8 weeks and I only get the top half of my hair colored.
I wash my hair every other day- sometimes I extend this by using dry shampoo, but I avoid washing my hair every day as it dries it out. I use this shampoo for color-treated hair, but I really want to try this one (the price tag kills me though!). I do not use conditioner at all, as I feel like it makes my hair heavy. Luckily the shampoo I use doesn’t leave my hair in too many tangles, but I typically use a wide-toothed comb like this to brush out my wet hair.
Typically, I shower at night and just let me hair air dry overnight. I do not remember the last time I used a blow dryer, but this is the one I have at home.
As far as styling my hair, I use a heat protectant first before using any tools. I like this one here or this one. Before I use the curling iron on my hair, I typically run a straightener over the ends to make them really straight. With my hair being shoulder length, sometimes the ends will flare out, circa-1950s housewife. Once the ends are all straight, I take a curling iron and very loosely curl my hair away from my fair- curling away is key! *I plan on doing a tutorial soon, but message me if you have any questions!
Okay, this is the MOST important part- texturizing spray. Guys, this stuff is literally life changing. Once my hair is curled, I spray my roots and lift sections of my hair and spray this everywhere- it adds volume and helps give my hair that “textured” look. Afterwards, I spray my hair with this hairspray. I have been using this hairspray for 10+ years and it is the best! No other brand compares!
And that’s it! Nothing too fancy! Let me know if you have any questions and as always thank you for reading and sharing! -A
