Hi friends! I hope you all are having the best week! I wanted to talk today about a topic I am asked about all the time- what foundation do you use?
There are currently four different foundation products in my makeup bag (well, one is a CC cream), so today I am going to discuss each and why I love it! I am always open to trying new beauty products, so if you have a favorite foundation let me know in the comments below!
Okay, if you have been following along for a while, you know that this is hands down my FAVORITE foundation. I have been using this product for 5+ years and I have yet to find another product that rivals this one. I still remember the first time I used this foundation- I think my eyes popped out of my head! It is a liquid foundation that has medium coverage and leaves your skin with a dewy look. It blurs imperfections and helps to improve the texture of your skin- literally, your skin looks airbrushed! It lasts all day and always looks just as good at the end of the day. For reference, I wear shade 5.5 year round!
Although all of this sounds pretty magical, it does come at a price. This foundation is pretty expensive ($64) – I know, what am I thinking?! When I first bought this foundation, it was literally the biggest splurge ever. Scott was in the military and I was a full-time student, so we really didn’t have the budget for fancy makeup. That’s where another one of my favorite foundations comes in….
Since I didn’t want to continue to spend $60+ every 2-3 months on foundation, I started mixing the Giorgio Armani with this drugstore brand- and they work so well together. The vast majority of the time that you see me on Instagram, I am wearing this combination of foundation. For reference, I wear the shade W3 nude beige. I have never really worn this product alone, but I do think it is one of the best drugstore foundations!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh
Recently, I decided to try the Estee Lauder Double Wear- when I went to the beauty counter and asked for the foundation, I thought I was getting this one. But, it turns out the woman actually gave me the Double Wear Nude Water Fresh foundation, which I hear provides less coverage than the traditional Double Wear. The Nude foundation provides a more natural, dewy look, whereas the traditional Double Wear provides more coverage (better for covering skin blemishes) and is more matte. Although I really like the Double Wear Nude, I still really want to try the traditional Double Wear- next time I will make sure the salesperson gives me the correct foundation! For reference, I wear shade 3N1 ivory beige.
This past summer, I was determined to find a CC cream that would work well when I was working out or out in the sun. Generally speaking, I do not like wearing expensive foundation to the gym/beach/etc because I know I will be sweating! I usually do not wear a lot of makeup to the gym/beach, but I did want to find a good CC cream that was lightweight, yet still provided good coverage. I came across this product over the summer right before I went to Mexico for vacation and I LOVE it! I literally wore this everyday on vacation (it has SPF 50!) and my skin looked great! It is a color-correcting, full coverage cream that lasted all day- even when I was sweating! For reference, I wear the shade medium.
Many of you have asked how I apply my foundation. I have been using the Sigma Beauty F80 flat kabuki brush for years and it is amazing! I just dab foundation on my forehead, cheeks, and chin and then use the brush to blend in a circular motion. The brush really helps me to achieve that airbrushed, flawless skin look! I highly recommend this product!
I hope you enjoyed this quick rundown of my favorite foundations. What foundation do you use? How do you apply it? I am always looking to try new beauty products, so I love hearing what everyone uses! As always thank you so much for reading!! -A
I just bought the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and got it from Sephora in the mail today. I have yet to try/test this out. I hope the color matches my skin b/c the color was done thru the ColorIQ thing they do in store so it automatically had my shade selected, which is awesome! Only downside for me is that I live 2-3 hours away from the City in which Sephora is located. So hopefully this is a perfect match. I heard many great things about this foundation too. and I work 8 hours a day so I do want a foundation that stays put on my skin and covers things up. I know in this foundation you need only a little for the entire face. Another downside for me is that the bottle is only 30 ml and $50 CDN is a lot of money. I like to spend a decent amount on foundation, but I feel like they should make the bottle bigger for paying $50 CDN. 🙂
You’ll have to let me know how it goes! I still need to try the Double Wear one (I only have the Nude version that is more lightweight). I wish they would make the bottle bigger too, but hopefully it will last you a while!
