My mom has really been wanting to share another dessert recipe with you all, so today we are baking this delish (and easy!) butter cake. Doesn’t have a fancy name, but ‘ooey gooey’ describes this cake perfectly haha! Kind of in the same family as a chess cake (if you are familiar with that) and is delicious any time of the year!
Cake Ingredients
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 2 eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Filling Ingredients
- 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 4 cups powdered sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- In a bowl, add all cake ingredients. Mash up with a fork until well combined.
- Butter a 9×13 pan generously and press cake mix in bottom of the pan- get it as flat as possible.
- In a stand mixer (or using a hand mixer) add cream cheese, eggs, vanilla, and butter (from filling ingredients). Beat on medium speed until creamy. Add in powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Beat on low speed until all sugar has been added.
- Pour this mixture oven cake mixture. Bake 40-45 minutes until edges are brown and center a little jiggly- this is okay as you don’t want to overcook!
- Cool before serving and sprinkle more powdered sugar on top for presentation!
My mom absolutely loves baking, so don’t be surprised if we share a few more yummy desserts over the next few weeks! I hope you all enjoy and as always thank you for reading!
