Hey guys! Yesterday I gave a mom a quick makeup/makeup brush tutorial and so many of you requested to know what products I used! Most of these items I use on a pretty regular basis and honestly, I don’t really mix up my products too much- many of these I have used for YEARS and they are the best (in my opinion). Just a note- I am by no means a makeup professional and I know very little. I have always enjoyed playing with makeup and watching YouTube tutorials!
As far as makeup brushes, I bought my mom this Essential Brush Set and this foundation brush. Don’t ask me why they don’t add the foundation brush to their essential set (to me its essential haha!), but these were the only brushes I used yesterday on my mom. I have actually been using Sigma brushes for the last 7 years or so- I absolutely love them! They are great quality and make such a difference with the application of my makeup. Definitely an investment up front, but they last forever!
I am going to list out each product in order that I used them + shade used. I typically apply my face makeup first, then eye makeup (I know that’s probably wrong), but it has been my routine for as long as I can remember and hey- it works for me! I do have a face makeup and eye makeup tutorial saved to my highlights. They were both filmed last year, but most of the makeup and how I apply is the same. I definitely need to film an updated tutorial soon, but until then here is a list of all products I use:
- BECCA Backlight Priming Filter: apply with fingertips all over face; primes face for makeup and gives glowy finish to skin
- BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector (shade light to medium): use fingertips to apply to under eyes; brightens look of dark circles and great base for concealer
- Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (shade 3N1): use foundation brush and apply liquid foundation in circular motion all over face. Foundation is buildable and gives me flawless skin. I wear the same shade year round.
- Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (shade light neutral) OR Tarte Hydrocealer (shade light neutral): I use the shape tape concealer under my eyes and to conceal any blemishes on my face. I blend with this sponge and do not get the sponge damp. For my mom, I used the Hydrocealer concealer because it is more hydrating and less likely to sink into fine lines. I think this concealer works better on mature skin or if you find the shape tape drying. *Can use Alexa15 at Tarte for 15% off purchase
- Fenty Beauty Pro Filter Instant Retouch Setting Powder (shade butter): I use the large powder brush (F30) from the essential set to apply this loose powder all over the face to set makeup. I feel like this helps to keep everything in place, but doesn’t make your makeup settle into lines or look cakey. I will also make sure to apply this powder to my under eyes to set my concealer well.
- BECCA Bronzer (shade bronzed bondi): apply along hairline, cheekbones, and jawline with this brush. Again, sadly this brush isn’t included in the essential set, so you would have to buy it extra. Really I just want the bronzer to liven up my color a bit and help provide some dimension and contour to my face. Sometimes if I feel extra pale, I may sweep some over my forehead and across my face for a little extra color.
- Nars Blush (shade Torrid): I use the F40 brush from the essential set to apply blush to the apples of my cheeks.
- BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector (shade Opal) or Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter (shade Hustla Baby): Use the E40 brush from the essential set to apply highlighter down nose to tip and along cheekbones. Both of these products are fabulous- the Fenty color is more gold, the Becca one is more pearl.
- Tarte Tarteist Eyeliner: I use the pencil side to line my top eyelids- I usually extend it out a bit for a winged look. *I didn’t use any eyeliner on my mom. *Alexa15 takes 15% off at Tarte
- Tarte Toasted Eyeshadow Palette or Huda Mauve Obsessions Palette: I used the Toasted palette on my mom yesterday- I applied s’more all over her lid with the E60 brush from the essential kit and latte in her crease with the E70 brush. I tried to keep it really neutral and light, so her eyes looked more bright (perfect for a daytime look!). I also love the Huda Mauve Obsessions palette for myself when I want a more pink/purple look. *Alexa15 takes 15% off at Tarte
- Anastasia of Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (shade soft brown): I used this to fill in my mom’s brows a bit and extend them out (they are very short and sparse). I also use this pencil on myself and LOVE it- makes a huge difference in my brows. I had my brows micro bladed 2 years ago, so there’s not much left, but I can still see where the pigment was placed. I generally just follow that shape, fill in sparse areas, and extend my brows.
- Tarte Tarteist Eyeliner: I use the liquid side to go over my pencil eyeliner. I feel like the liquid liner stands out more and adds a pop. *I didn’t use any eyeliner on my mom. *Alexa15 takes 15% off at Tarte
- Revlon Lash Curler: used to curl my lashes- I focus at the base and ends
- Dior Lash Primer: used to prime my lashes for mascara, feel like this product also adds a little extra to the tips of my lashes which makes them look longer
- Benefit Bad Gal Bang Mascara: love this stuff! Been using for years and haven’t found a comparable mascara. Used this on my mom yesterday and she loved it!
- Charlotte Tillbury Airbrush Flawless Finish (shade2, medium): This is the powder that I keep with me throughout the day to control shine on my face. I love the formula- not cakey and gives such a pretty flawless finish. One of my friends introduced this powder to me last year and it is the best!
- Charlotte Tillbury Lip Liner (shade Pillow Talk)
- Kylie Velvet Liquid Lipstick (shade Charm)
- Tarte Maracujá Juicy Lip (shade rose or coconut): love this overtop the liquid lipstick (which is slightly drying in my opinion). This moisturizes, adds shine, and is long lasting! *Alexa15 works for a discount at Tarte
