Happy 2018 you guys! I hope you all had a wonderful NYE! We actually spent the night in as we just couldn’t face the frigid temps outside- as I am sure you know! I don’t know if anyone caught the NYE Special on CNN with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen- it was absolutely hysterical! And I’ll be honest…I didn’t even make it to midnight- I know, I am so boring!
Anyways, now I feel well-rested and ready to start this year on the right foot! I love the idea of starting over at the beginning of the year- having a blank slate and being able to create the year YOU want. Setting goals, both short and long-term, and seeing yourself achieve them is the best feeling! I hope all of your goals/dreams/wishes come true this year!
Today, I wanted to share a little more about me and my journey that has led me to blogging. Many of you may not know this, but I have a Doctorate of Nursing degree and work as a nurse practitioner full-time. Two and a half months ago, I started this blog as a creative outlet to share my thoughts about fashion, home décor, recipes, and travel! I was already spending my free time searching for what I would wear to upcoming events, finding new recipes, and scouring Pinterest like a crazy lady for ways to decorate my home. I finally decided to document it all, as I thought there may be others out there who may be interested in what I had to share. I was nervous to take the leap, as I would definitely consider myself more of an introvert. Funny enough, I actually hate being in front of the camera, but I knew I would just have to get over it if this was the path I wanted to take. I was so worried about everything, but I reached out to a college acquaintance who is now a full-fledged blogger with a HUGE following. I wanted to pick her brain to see what this experience had been like for her-she literally e-mailed me PAGES about how amazing blogging had been for her and her family. She went on and on about all the positive aspects and didn’t have one negative thing to say about it. That was it- I was in and so this blog began!
The last few months have been so exciting and I have loved every minute. Yes, it has been a struggle to balance a full-time job with the blog. I work pretty long hours during the week and then spend time blogging at night and on the weekends. Many people do not realize the work that goes into keeping a blog going- creating interesting content, planning photos out, writing posts, linking products, etc- it can be very time consuming. And I’ll admit it- before I started doing this, I felt like bloggers had it so easy- I mean, they just posted pictures and looked pretty, right? Well, that is not the case my friends! There is A LOT of work that goes into this and I have so much respect for anyone on this journey. Even though it has been stressful, I would not change a thing. Through this blog, I have met so many people through social media- it really has been amazing! I have met with other local bloggers and have loved creating these new friendships! Without this blog, I would not have met you- I have loved your feedback and all your sweet messages and comments. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for supporting me on this journey! Gosh, I feel all emotional now! Just call me ‘Soggy Flicker’- RHONJ reference haha!
This year, I hope to continue to grow and be able to provide you all with amazing content. I have been focusing more on fashion content over the last few weeks, but I am planning on adding more beauty and continuing to post about home décor ideas and recipes! I cannot wait to keep sharing with you all and cannot wait to see where this year takes us! Happy New Year- now let’s go achieve those goals together!
XO- Alexa
