Hey guys! I have seen so many new faces to the blog and to my Instagram over the last few weeks, so I figured it is time for you to get to know me as more than just “some blogger on Instagram” haha!
Today, I am sharing 10 facts about me so you all can get to know me better! If you ever have any questions about anything, feel free to reach out to me anytime! I love hearing from you guys!
1. Let’s start from the beginning. I was born and raised in Nashville, TN. I am the oldest of 4 siblings- I have a sister who is 26 and lives in Knoxville, TN, a brother who is 17, and another brother who is 15. I keep telling my parents they are almost done with all of us and will soon have everyone out of the house haha!
2. I was always extremely studious in school and took 2 AP classes in high school. I have minimal hand-eye coordination, so athletics weren’t my strong suit!
3. I attended the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and obtained my Bachelor’s in the Science of Nursing.
4. I met my husband during our freshman year of college. Coincidentally, we met at his fraternity house (I know, I know…) on Valentine’s Day 2008 (ah- so long ago!). The fraternity was having a “Single’s Only Party” and my friends and I decided to go for fun! A mutual friend introduced Scott and I- the rest is history!
5. My husband and I got engaged on Christmas Eve 2011. We were in Tampa, Florida visiting his family for Christmas. Scott’s grandmother lives on a beautiful lake and, after dinner, Scott asked me to go out on the boat with him. I thought it was so strange that he wanted to leave the family gathering, so I kinda knew something was going on. We went down to the boat and Scott started driving away from the house. We took the boat out a little ways and I was still so confused. Finally, Scott started giving his spill about how much he loved me and then he got down on one knee and popped the question! I was in shock and kept saying, “is this real life?” Seriously, Scott was like, “uh, yes, it is real life and I need an answer.” Of course I said YES and immediately called my family from the boat. They were screaming and yelling- everyone was so excited. We took the boat back to Scott’s grandmother’s house and by that time everyone knew what was going on and they were waiting for us. I started crying all over again! It was so sweet and one of the best moments of my life!
6. After we got engaged, Scott and I moved to Clarksville, TN. Scott was an officer in the Army and was stationed at Fort Campbell. I started working as a registered nurse at a local hospital. In March 2012, we decided to get a dog! Luna is half Labrador and half cocker spaniel- aka a “Spanador.” She is literally our child and is completely spoiled. We love her so much!
7. Scott was deployed to Afghanistan from September 2012 – May 2013 (nearly 9 months!). It was definitely a tough time for me, but looking back, time really did fly by. We were able to FaceTime every few days, but the huge time difference really made it difficult. Luna was my buddy and companion during that time and I am so thankful that we had her! I kept busy at work and started making plans to go back to school!
8. Six months after Scott came home, we got married! We had nearly a 2 year engagement, so we were definitely ready to tie the knot! We got married in Nashville and the entire day was completely magical!
9. After working as a registered nurse for 2.5 years, I decided to go back to school and obtain my Doctorate in Nursing so I could practice as a nurse practitioner. I decided to specialize in pediatrics and ended up graduating at the top of my class!
10. At the end of 2015, I graduated from school and Scott wrapped up his time in the Army. It was actually perfect timing that the both of us were starting new careers at the exact same time!
And there you have it! I hope you all feel like you know me a little better and maybe we have things in common?! As always, thank you for reading and sharing! -A
